Reports to: Director of Communications
Full-time position generating online content, managing social media, and supporting communications department
National Brain Tumor Society seeks a creative individual who will manage our organization’s online and social media activities and support the efforts of the Communications department. The position combines key writing responsibilities with project-management skills and requires a comprehensive understanding of NBTS programs and organizational messaging. The Online Media Manager reports to the Director of Communications and works with the Communications team, as well as other staff. The full-time position is located in our East Coast Office in Watertown, MA (easily accessible by MBTA bus routes and with free parking).
Responsibilities include:
- Centralize administration of existing groups/causes on social media sites, including:
- Monitor and update organization profiles on social media platforms
- Monitor online profiles, activities, and features of our colleague organizations
- Consolidate and connect groups with NBTS as needed
- Working with Director of Communications, develop on-line media strategy and report on activities including:
- Establish monitoring guidelines and reporting recommendations for org-wide use
- Monitor and document community trends and requests
- Identify active and influential community members related to our mission
- Content development, editing, production, and support for the following:
- Using the content management system, manage NBTS website, in collaboration with appropriate staff, external advisors and/or board members
- Press releases and other media initiatives
- Organization eNewsletters, some email, and other online initiatives
- Identify new systems logistics that affect other staff (e.g., tracking online giving through Facebook Causes)
- Update external web links and organization information
- Centralize and maintain media materials (video, photo, etc.)
- Assist with other communications projects as needed
Requirements
The Online Media Manager must be creative, detail-oriented, responsive to direction, and receptive to feedback. The ideal candidate for this position has:
- Significant experience with social media applications including Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, Flickr, Twitter, etc.;
- Experience and depth of knowledge with MS office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.), Adobe Creative Suite, CMS and CRM platforms, HTML, and Convio preferred;
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and oral;
- Team player, strategic thinker, with strong problem-solving skills;
- Adaptive to change in a fast-paced environment;
- Ability to represent NBTS and our mission appropriately.
