Name: Kelli
Age: 35
Diagnosed in: 2006
Treatments: Surgery (craniotomy)
Tumor Type: Pilocytic Astrocytoma
Notes: Symptoms included low hormone counts, MRI showed tumor in hypothalamus touching optic chiasm. Found a Dr. she felt comfortable with, surgery 2 months later. Recovered really well, in ICU 3-4 days, went home and had seizure from low sodium levels. Hardest part was dealing with additional diagnosis of Diabetes Insipidus from surgery and rapid weight gain after surgery. She works part time, is married, and has a daughter. Tumor has regrown almost to it's original size and is being closely monitored. She hopes she can, "help someone be less confused or calm their fears".
