Accountant/Human Resource Coordinator

Full-Time Position 

Position Overview: 

National Brain Tumor Society (NBTS) is seeking an Accountant/Human Resource Coordinator at its Newton, MA office. This position will be part of the Accounting Team that provides timely and accurate completion of accounting tasks. While the position is mainly accounting related, it will serve as the administrator for employee benefits and contact for human resources administrative issues.


– Participate with the posting of cash (checks and credit cards)

– Assist in the vouchering of vendor invoices and generating A/P checks

– Maintain account analysis and participate in monthly closings

– Respond to employees’ requests and problems in a timely manner

– Interpret and communicate HR policies

– Process employee benefit changes as needed

– Work closely with CEO, Department Directors and outside HR Consultant to review and maintain adherence to HR policies

– Maintain employee data with third party Cloud vendors

– Other duties as assigned

Desired Skills & Experience: 

– Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field from an accredited College or University

– 2-3 years’ experience in processing accounting tasks and supporting HR functions

– Technical aptitude and proficiency with MS Office, especially Excel

– Experience with Great Plains software helpful but not required

– Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality

– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a diverse on/off site employee workforce

– Exceptional organizational and prioritization skills

– Dilligent at tasks requiring individualized attention as well as working in teams

– Appreciates working a mission driven non-profit organization with purpose and passion to help and ultimately cure brain tumor patients.

– Brings a sense of humor and a can-do attitude
