My Mom’s Battle with Malignant Meningioma

Chere

This is the story of my mom, Donna O’Shell.

At the age of 35, she was diagnosed with a benign meningioma. It was surgically removed. She survived four subsequent brain surgeries for recurrent meningiomas, the latest in April 2015. She was an extremely strong woman.

Unfortunately, her last meningioma was malignant (grade 3) and it spread throughout her body. This is a very rare occurrence, with the doctor who was treating her said he hadn’t seen it in 20 years of practice and very little research has been done on malignant meningioma.

Sadly, she passed away June 19, 2015.
