Wonder Woman Joey

Joey

Joey was diagnosed with brain cancer in the spring of 2004. After surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy she was in remission for seven years. The cancer became active again in 2011. Although Joey was a brave and determined warrior, the cancer took her life in the fall of 2013.

Joey was a graduate of Caesar Rodney High School and the University of Delaware where she played Rugby. Her love of Science and spirit of adventure led her to Alaska right after college to work for the U.S. Department of Natural Resources as a scientist aboard deep sea fishing boats in the Bering Sea. There she examined, catalogued, and preserved any endangered species that were caught in the fishing nets. She returned to the continuous 48 states and worked for the Museum of Natural History and Science in New York City.

It was there that she came to pursue a career in Marketing. Joey worked for the Liberty Science Center in Bayonne, N.J. and the Museum of Natural History and Science in Wilmington. She worked as a Marketing Manager for the Produce Marketing Associates of America in Newark, Del. until her illness forced her to retire. Joey enjoyed traveling with her husband and cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Joey kept a special place in her heart for animals, especially her own precious cats, Skittles and Truffle.
