Southern California Brain Tumor Walk

We at the National Brain Tumor Society stand with the thousands of people affected by the catastrophic Southern California wildfires. We support you from both near and far and hope that those battling the blazes are able to further mitigate the destruction and lives lost. We extend our thoughts to and beyond our brain tumor community to all Southern California residents.

The Southern California Brain Tumor community will come together on May 10, 2025, for a 5K Walk/Run to raise awareness and funds to support the needs of brain tumor patients and their families. The Southern California Brain Tumor Walk is a family-friendly event for all ages! Join us for a morning of celebration, remembrance and hope. Your community is here. Let’s discover a cure, together.

Join us:

In-person participation options include an event t-shirt if you register prior to April 10, 2025. Event t-shirts are not guaranteed to late registrants.

With the impact of the fires in Southern California, we have made some important updates to the 2025 event.

  • In order to eliminate any barriers for our community to gather together, NBTS has decided to waive all registration fees for the event this year. If you are in the position to, there is an option to include an additional donation when you register to continue to support the brain tumor community and this event.
  • The timed running option for the event has been removed.

  • Adult Walker – Free
  • Youth Walker (12 and under) – Free
  • Volunteer – Free

Virtual Participant – FREE registration for those who are unable to attend the event in person. Event t-shirts will be mailed to all virtual participants who raise $75 or more by April 10, 2025. T-shirts will arrive to you by event day. Virtual participants who register after April 10, 2025, will not qualify for an event t-shirt.

Event Schedule

8:00-9:00 a.m. – Registration is open for runners and walkers
9:00-9:30 a.m. – Event Program & Celebration of Life
9:30 a.m. – Walk begins
10:45-11:00 a.m. – Top Fundraising Awards and Race Winners

For the walk/run, participants have the choice to run the 5K or walk at your own pace. Wheelchairs, strollers, and leashed pets are welcome. The timed runner option of the event has been removed for 2025.

Team and Individual Fundraising Incentives

Fundraising for the brain tumor community takes real commitment to our cause, so we want to celebrate your successes.

Commemorative Pin

Our NBTS Accelerator Club will recognize event participants like you driving brain tumor breakthroughs forward through your fundraising efforts. The more you raise, the more additional prizes you can earn. By raising $250 or more on your personal fundraising page by event day, you will become part of the NBTS Accelerator Club.

$250 – Accelerator: By raising $250 or more on your personal fundraising page by event day, you will become part of the NBTS Accelerator Club and receive exclusive benefits, including:

  • 2024 Accelerator Pin. Wear it at your event to raise awareness and share pride in your fundraising efforts
  • Recognition at registration and packet pickup
  • A Digital Accelerator Badge on your personal fundraising page

$5,000 – Changemaker 
In addition to the Accelerator Club benefits, you will also receive:

  • VIP Fast Lane at day-of event registration and t-shirt pickup
  • Changemaker lanyard
  • Verbal recognition at the event by the event emcee
  • Changemakers will be highlighted on social media

$10,000 – Groundbreaker 
In addition to the Accelerator Club Benefits, you will also receive:

  • VIP Fast Lane at day-of event registration and t-shirt pickup
  • Groundbreakers will be recognized on stage at your event!
  • Groundbreaker medal
  • Groundbreakers will be highlighted on social media

Additional Individual Fundraising Prizes:
Achieve one of the milestones listed below by May 24th and your prize will be mailed directly to your home post-event.

  • Raise $500 – $999 on your personal fundraising page to earn a NBTS crossbody bag
  • Raise $1,000 – $4999 on your personal fundraising page to earn a NBTS mesh trucker hat
  • Raise $5,000-$9,999 on your personal fundraising page to earn a NBTS crew neck sweatshirt or hoodie
  • Raise $10,000+ on your personal fundraising page to earn ALL of the above prizes!

Team Fundraising Prize:

Every team who raises $500 by April 15 will qualify for will receive a personalized “In Honor” or “In Memory” Mission Sign, featuring the name and photo of your loved one. Signs will be displayed on the course at the event. 
Every team who raises $10,000 by April 24 will qualify for a team tent on event day!
