A Veterinarian’s Story

After months of peculiar symptoms in 2023, I began experiencing double vision and weakness in my legs. My eye sector saw a deficit in my left eye indicating oculomotor nerve dysfunction and provided an MRI authorization. The radiologist saw something in my brain approximately 2×3 cm.

Further tests were done to assess for myasthenia gravis and other neurological diseases but all tests were negative. The lesion is too deep so I’ve been told to consider surgery or even a surgical biopsy. I’ve had radiation coupled with temozolomide but that didn’t appear to offer any significant relief. I currently receive Avastin every 21 days, mebendazole 100 mg daily, and have taken six cycles of CCNU (final dose taken 10 days ago).

I’m a veterinarian and had to give up clinical practice. My practice will hopefully go to my associates. I’m tired and fatigued often. I’m dull mentally. I’m still weak, possibly weaker in my legs. As a veterinarian I keep wanting to say that I’m weaker in my hind legs.
