Pickford, Love, and Starting Over

Published on July 24, 2025 in Share Your Story

Guest Author: Dominique G. in Michigan

I recently got married to an amazing man, Oscar. We live in Pickford, Michigan, basically love at first sight, picked up everything we had, and left Texas.

I recently got my second pituitary tumor removed in September 2024 — the FIRST was January 2017. This time, they went through both nostrils. Both terms were benign. This time around, once it was removed, so many health issues came to light. All because of this tiny tumor. It’s affected my hormones, my daily recovery has been the hardest part. Healing where nobody can see. I don’t have a scar. The pain, all these meds and new way of life because of a tumor I didn’t want or ask for and keeps coming back.

With the first one, I did everything right. I did the surgery, and my surgeon even said it won’t come back. Within two years, it was back. I opted out of all doctors. Lost hope. Drowned myself in alcohol to numb the pain.

Met my husband, and he said we’re going to start over and try again. I had a different surgery in Michigan and felt great after surgery.
