My son was a vet who had two tours to Iraq — once in March 2003 and another in 2005. He was exposed to the burn pits. In 2014, he was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor.

They said it probably developed around 10 years prior (right around the time of his deployments). He had a 6-week course of radiation followed by a year of oral chemotherapy. He did fairly well for the next 6 years and then his scans showed activity.

The VA started him on chemotherapy again in October 2020. By January of 2021, he was having neurological issues and it was determined his tumor had turned into a glioblastoma. He passed in March 2021 at the age of 38. He left behind a 14-year-old daughter and a family who misses him terribly. 💔

TAGGED WITH: glioblastoma
