My Dad: The Person Behind Sarge’s Soldiers

Published on July 16, 2024 in Share Your Story

My dad, Chris Solarski, was diagnosed in the summer of 2018. It all started when his coworkers noticed that he was not acting himself and told him to go to his doctor. His doctor noticed cognitive changes and rushed him across the street to the ER. Later, he was brought to Temple University Hospital, where he was rushed into emergency brain surgery. A biopsy revealed our worst nightmare — glioblastoma.

Since that life-changing day in 2018, my dad has gone through several rounds of chemo, radiation, and several preventative medications. He gets bi-monthly MRIs to ensure there is no tumor regrowth. Six years as a cancer survivor in July 2024! Sarge’s Soldiers is the team we created in honor of my dad, whose family nickname is “Sarge.” Sarge’s Soldiers continue to pray, donate, and support Sarge in his battle with brain cancer.
