The brain tumor community will come together on May 5, 2024, in the nation’s capital for a 5K Walk/Run to raise awareness and funds to support the needs of brain tumor patients and their families. The Race for Hope DC is a family-friendly event for all ages! Join us for a morning of celebration, remembrance and hope. Your community is here. Let’s discover a cure, together.
In-person participation options include an event t-shirt if you register prior to April 5, 2024. Event t-shirts are not guaranteed to late registrants. Registration fees will increase on March 1, 2024, and again on event week.
New in 2024
Virtual Participant – FREE registration for those who are unable to attend the event in person. Event t-shirts will be mailed to all virtual participants who raise $75 or more by April 5, 2024. T-shirts will arrive to you by event day. Virtual participants who register after April 5, 2024, will not qualify for an event t-shirt.

7:00 AM – Registration/Packet Pickup opens on Freedom Plaza
8:40 AM – Opening Remarks and Survivor Tribute
9:00 AM – 5K Start
10:00 AM – Kids Fun Run
10:30 AM – Closing Ceremony – Rachel Rabinovitz Impact Award and Rabbi Joseph P. Weinberg Triumph of the Spirit Award presentations, fundraising and running award winners
For the walk/run, participants have the choice to run the 5K as a timed participant, untimed runner, or walk at your own pace. Wheelchairs and strollers are welcome, but please leave your furry friends at home. Service animals are allowed. For the little ones, we will have a Kids Fun Run after the 5K (75 yard dash) where all participants will receive a medal. Please be sure to register all children who wish to participate. Water will be available at the halfway point of the 5K and at Freedom Plaza, along with ice cream and light snacks.

The Wall of Hope is a tribute displayed on Freedom Plaza on event day. You are invited to contribute a photo of your loved one you participate for. We honor brain tumor survivors and those we’ve sadly lost.
Information on how to submit your photo is below.
If you would like us to use a submission from the 2023 Wall of Hope, please email racedc@curebraintumors.org with your name and the name of your honoree and we will check for your entry.
