22 Year Brain Tumor Survivor

Jose

My name is Jose Perez. I was diagnosed two brain tumors. In early November ’91, I was playing with my brother and the suddenly I fell to the ground and could not move the right side of my body. I was rushed to the hospital and then to surgery. The doctor told me I had an astrocytoma brain tumor. After about 4-5 hours of surgery, I found out that they had cut my head open and I had 58 staples in head. I was eight years old. When I had the first surgery, I did not fully understand what really happened. A year later the doctor found Glioblastoma and I had to surgery again. I have and still have many struggles with speech, changes in concentration, memory, attention, and alertness. I am now 22 year brain tumor survivor.
