A Whole New Life: Loving the New Me

Published on June 20, 2025 in Share Your Story

Guest Author: Meagan S. in Michigan

I had a central neurocytoma removed in 2008. I had an anoxic brain bleed and a stroke. I developed left-side paralysis and aphasia. I tried returning to college three times. I gave up on school.

I was a full-time student at MSU. I was a cheerleading coach at a local high school. I had a 3.4 GPA. I was also a waitress. Now, with my terrible short-term memory, I can’t do those things anymore.

It’s a whole new life. You’ll become more content when you learn to love “the new me.”

TAGGED WITH: neurocytoma
