Barry’s Brain
Pam
My brother Barry was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma when he was 50 years old. This type of cancer is a childhood cancer that is very rare to effect adults. It normally will show up by the age of 10. He is now 55 1/2 years old. His treatment was massive chemo and the max radiation that can be given. He has recently started having the effects of the radiation. He is suffering from SMART. Stroke Migraines After Radiation Treatment. This is very rare and the hospital he has been in knows nothing about.
They are conferring with his Dr. from the Mayo clinic. The best they can do is to keep him on anti-seizure medication. He really has suffered over the last 5 1/2 years, but mostly the last 3 months. He has a wife that could not be a better care giver and a 13 year old daughter who is a very intelligent loving little girl. He is very blessed in that way.He is one of 9 children and was the only one to have this condition.
There is not a lot of information about this cancer in the mainstream hospitals. They really can’t give us a prognosis because they don’t really know enough about it. This is why I started “Team Barry”. I am hoping for more research on this cancer in adults.
