My Daddy’s GBM
Alma
My mother and I always prayed that our family would get closer and my dad would spend more quality family time with us. He has been an alcoholic for most of my life, aside from that he was an amazing father and still is. My dad was diagnosed October 2014. Our life changed like many others with a really bad headache that led us to the emergency room. He had surgery, they found a tumor on his right side. Chemo and radiation of course followed and two lengthy stays in the ICU due to pneumonia. We thought we were going to lose him to pneumonia one of the times but he fought through it and is doing amazing now. Just recently, the doctor told us chemo is no longer working, the tumor has gotten bigger and there are new cancer sites in his brain. Through all of this my daddy has never lost hope and neither have we. We are fighting together as a family till the end. Although, this awful diagnosis has changed our life forever we have become the close family that we dreamed of. It is important to never lose hope and take each day one day at a time. My father is the most positive person I have ever met and I’m thankful to be his daughter.
