Kaitlynn’s Story

Almost two years ago, I was diagnosed with a grade II oligodendroglioma. I was 17 and a month into my senior year of high school. I had a total resection and am not receiving any treatment currently, besides MRIs every four months. I have a new tumor beginning to grow, which is progressing very slowly. From my experience, I realized I have a fight in me that I never thought I had. I am brave and strong. Going through a major surgery is so difficult, and there are permanent affects. I’ve been slowly learning how to deal with daily challenges caused by the tumor and surgery. My thought processing is slower, and sometimes people get frustrated with that. But from all of this, I’ve learned I am loved more than I thought I was and that having brain cancer is not going to hold me back from anything.
