My Brother

Laura Allen

My brother died in November 2013 of glioblastoma. With treatment in a large teaching facility (Brown Cancer Center in Louisville, KY), he actually died from the treatment. If he had done nothing, he may have died sooner but with more dignity and quality. I would never give to your cause because with a diagnosis like his, the doctors should have told him how terrible and prolonged his 14-month life would be. He was at the mercy of the residents and fellows who loved getting into his head and cutting and treating. My sister is a Director there and she and I do not share the same philosophy in matters of what is terminal. I go for QUALITY not quantity. Laura Allen Smith RT, RN, BSN
