I had a rare tumor called cervicalependymoma. You can get tumors at any age but mine was rare because my tumor is more common in children and I was diagnosed with this tumor at 31 years old.
My children at the time were 9 and 3 they are now 21 and 15. I had to be put into a medically induced coma for 3 months and also do 3 months of rehab. I had 30 days of radiation therapy.
As of today I still live with 10% of my tumor. I have nerve damage in my hands due to the surgery and I also had to relearn how to talk and walk at one time, but overall I’m doing well.
