You Just Never Know…

Published on April 30, 2021 in Share Your Story

I started having these headaches that just would not go away. That was Summer 2013.

I am a sports fanatic and love basketball. There are courts in practically every town across our fair country. Truly a blessing. I’m sure many feel this way too. All you need is a ball, proper footwear, and a court. I used to shoot hoops every chance I got when the weather good.

One day, on the court, I started having these screaming headaches that wouldn’t go away. Finally I went to The Clinic in Phoenixville, PA to see my doctor, the wonderful Dr. Lorna Stuart. She got me the tests I needed and the cause of my headaches showed up on the MRI Dr. Stuart got me. If not for Dr. Stuart I don’t know where I’d be. She is THE BEST!

Getting me properly diagnosed was key. I went to Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. They treated me with six weeks of radiation treatments. The Drs. told me the radiation had stopped the tumor from growing. The tumor, properly called “Tectal Glioma” is inoperable so unfortunately surgery was not an option for me.

Jefferson Doctors treated me with 6 weeks of radiation. This I believe, saved my life.

All the treatments I received at Jefferson were covered by their Charity Care Program. I am the luckiest man on Earth for all that has happened to me. Thank you Dr. Stuart. Thank you Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. Thank you both for saving my life.
