Our granddaughter

When our granddaughter was 6 1/2 years old, the excruciating headaches she was having caused an alarm for her parents. She was admitted to the Great Ormond St. Hospital for Children in London, and, after an MRI, doctors confirmed she had an inoperable (benign) tumor on her brain. They immediately drained the fluid that was building up, causing the pain.

She is almost 9 years old now and has had 1 1/2 years of chemotherapy and the best possible care by a very caring medical staff. She bravely went every week for her treatments and her mom brought her back to school so she could be in her classes and with her friends. She rarely missed school!

With MRIs every 3 months, the tumor is being carefully monitored and this will continue indefinitely. The important thing
is – she survived a grueling 2 1/2 years with grace and gratitude and was honored on her last day of chemo with a song, a gong of the bell and applause from all the nurses and other medical staff members who took such good care of her.

We feel blessed.
