Strong Little boy

Published on October 6, 2020 in Share Your Story

Geoff was born November 21, 1972. He had developmental issues and it was plain that he was dealing with something but no one knew what it was. Doctors we saw just labeled him slow.

An otherwise happy little boy who tried his best to keep up with friends. He struggled. In October 1976, he became very ill, lost all sense of balance and looked terrible. We went to hospital and had blood work, X-rays, and eventually received the diagnosis of Meningeal sarcoma. The Doctor told us it was a fatal tumor.

Those words took a long time to sink in.

We did all we could, chemo, radiation every day for weeks.

He passed January 20, 1977. I ride every year to raise funds to help Children’s Cancer Research Fund (CCRF) Great Cycle Challenge. I am shocked at how many children are stricken by cancer every day and every year. It has to stop.
