GBM Warrior

Published on February 20, 2018 in Share Your Story

My name is Tracy and I was diagnosed with grade 4 GBM on August 1st 2017. Just 68 days before I was supposed to walk down the aisle and marry my best friend. My whole life changed in that moment that I heard the dreaded C word, and I was just trying to understand it all. It had only been 10 days since I had been airlifted to Sacramento to remove a 7cm tumor from the right side of my brain. I didn’t even think about the possibility of it being cancer as I was healing from surgery.

I kept telling myself it was going to be benign and this was just going to be a bump in the road on the way to my wedding. Well it ended up being a much bigger bump than I expected, but I didn’t let that stop me from walking down the aisle! I had the most beautiful wedding on October 7th and finished my last day of my first treatment on October 16th. My last week of my first treatment was rough but I got through it.

I am currently on my second treatment of chemo and have had 2 clear MRI’s so far. I have stayed positive through this journey as difficult as it has been at times because I am strong and a fighter and I wont let this cancer hold me down or stop me from pursuing my dreams. My hope is that one day we can find a cure for brain cancer!
