Benign is Not Fine Support Conversations

Benign is Not Fine Support Conversations is an online support group led by a licensed clinical social worker for patients and caregivers navigating the unique challenges of a benign (non-cancerous) brain tumor diagnosis.

This support group is a welcoming space where community members can have honest, supportive discussions about the feelings and emotions that accompany any aspect of a benign brain tumor experience.

These online support group conversations are held on the second Friday of each month from 12-1 p.m. ET/9-10 a.m. PT. After you sign up with your email, you will receive a confirmation email, which will allow us to stay in touch with you. For more information, see our privacy policy.

If you’re unsure whether the Benign is Not Fine Support Conversations group is the best fit for your diagnosis, please email us at communityteam@braintumor.org. We’re happy to help determine which support group may be the most appropriate for you.

Laurenn Armstrong, LCSW

Laurenn Armstrong, LCSW, is the Associate Director of Community Programs at NBTS and brings over three years of experience working directly with pediatric and adult neuro-oncology patients in a hospital setting. During her tenure as a neuro-oncology social worker, Laurenn dedicated herself to helping patients and families navigate the challenges of a brain tumor diagnosis. She acted as an advocate, connected them with community resources, and provided emotional support.

Laurenn brings a compassionate, community-centered approach to her work, driven by a deep commitment to improving the experience and well-being of those facing a brain tumor diagnosis.

Connecting with survivors and care partners whose lives have been changed by a brain tumor diagnosis has deeply shaped my perspective. No matter where someone is at in this journey — newly diagnosed, facing a recurrence, finding their way through survivorship, or coping with loss — I’m devoted to offering compassionate, comprehensive support that helps individuals feel seen, understood, and empowered every step of the way.
