National Brain Tumor Society Statement on NIH Director

Published on June 7, 2017 in Press Release

Yesterday, it was announced that President Trump has selected Dr. Francis Collins to remain as the Director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). National Brain Tumor Society Chief Executive Officer David Arons released the following statement:

Dr. Collins has been a tremendous contributor and asset to the U.S. biomedical research community throughout his career, and particularly during the more than two decades he’s served at the NIH, including the past eight as its Director.

NBTS applauds the president and administration for its decision to retain Dr. Collins in this important position as he will provide continuity, vision, expertise, and experience to this vital agency.

Additionally, we offer our congratulations to Dr. Collins and look forward to continuing to work with him and the NIH on priorities and programs that will benefit brain tumor patients.
