There Are Great Outcomes

In 1984, when I was 19, doctors found an astrocytoma in my brain that was causing hydrocephalus.  A shunt was inserted, a biopsy done, and no further surgery was needed.

In 2022, during a routine MRI for another health condition, doctors discovered what turned out to be a meningioma.  This was removed along with the shunt from 1984.  The shunt was still functioning so a new one was inserted as I am still dependent on that shunt.

It’s a scary situation, and it makes you appreciate every day you are given!

Going through a health scare is not a solo venture.  Family and community are key to keeping you positive!

I know how lucky I am, and it’s because of the amazing doctors and research that’s being done that I am able to tell my story.

There are great outcomes these days!

Thanks for what your organization does!
