Javier Mosquera

I am Javier Mosquera. I am 58 years old, and I live in Buenos Aires. In April 2022, I was diagnosed with glioblastoma grade 4. It was like wallowing in a giant wave along with my family. I had no idea I would have to go through a long (hopefully) changing process full of obstacles and fears.

It was very difficult to become aware that the tumor is in my head, and it tends to reproduce. It is not possible to plan in the long term; therefore, it is only possible to move forward step by step, monitoring whether the tumor remains stable.

My “reset” in many aspects is only possible thanks to the love of my dear wife and our fantastic four grown sons and daughters and my unconditional friends with whom we navigate the process together. And there are many more who navigate cancer and life with us: family, friends, loved ones, health professionals, etc.

And I experience that it’s not about the destination but the journey. That’s why I try to rediscover, unlearn, and transform the whole process into something new. This is how my social media account emerged, an initiative where I share my particular perspective and experiences as a trigger to be able to navigate together and resignify cancer.
