Our dad has never been sick. We would joke about it in our family as each of us were brought down by colds, migraines, and COVID but he was always healthy. When he got a headache on July 16, 2022, we assumed it was COVID after our whole family had just been positive.

He went to his local clinic to ask for a test. When it came back negative, the nurse knew him well enough to know that he doesn’t get headaches and something was off. He was sent for the first of what came to be never ending MRIs.

After surgery in late August, we got the news on September 6 that shifted our lives off balance forever. Our steadfast, strong, gregarious caregiving dad has since endured 2 more surgeries, radiation, chemo, Optune, and now a new trial drug. His team at Mayo have been outstanding and we’re so grateful to them for their honesty and compassion.

His is our mom’s high school sweetheart, our daddy, the most fun and loving papa, a friend, a leader, a giver. His love language is acts of service. He wants nothing more than to give to those around him. We just want to give him more time with us. His hope and ours is that through his treatments a cure will one day be discovered so no more families have to experience this pain. We live everyday to live now. Always showing our love and appreciation of one another. Making sure there are no words left unspoken.
