- About Us
In life, if you should ever have the privilege of meeting someone as special as Jaclyn Sabol Patton, do not hesitate to get to know them on a deep, meaningful level. The opportunity will surely be a blessing.
Jaclyn was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2010. Where some fall into despair, she never said, “Why me?” but faced her disease head on with grace, courage, and dignity. She carried on selflessly and bravely, contributing so much to the brain tumor community in the time she had with us.
Sadly, on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, we lost this unique, special, vivacious soul. She left us with a poignant legacy, and she will be remembered for her work positively impacting the entire brain tumor community and beyond. For those of us who had the honor of knowing her, her example and spirit will live on forever.
Jaclyn’s accomplishments and contributions to the National Brain Tumor Society were extraordinary. She became the face and the voice of the New York City Brain Tumor Walk and emceed the event for the last five years. Jaclyn was also an integral member of the New York City Brain Tumor Walk Planning Committee, and co-chaired the event in 2016. Additionally, she was involved in NBTS’ advocacy program and even traveled to Washington, DC along side our CEO, David Arons, for former Vice President Joe Biden’s Cancer Moonshot Summit in September of 2016.
Jaclyn was a gift to so many of us in the Greater New York Region and, indeed, beyond. Her light, positivity and love of life were contagious, as anyone who has had the pleasure of meeting her would surely agree. But it was her commitment to the cause beyond her own personal journey that proved to us she was one-of-a-kind.
Jaclyn was my ‘go-to’ when trying to understand what people with a brain tumor are going through and, as much as she was a support to NBTS, she was also a vital support to me.
Jaclyn, you will be forever missed, but certainly never forgotten. We will sincerely aim to make you proud by continuing this fight and finding new treatments and an eventual cure. We are confident, that you will be guiding us and cheering us on every step of the way.
Regional Director of Development, Greater New York
All of us at NBTS are sending our most earnest thoughts, sympathy and condolences to Jaclyn’s friends and family during this difficult time.
